Do you remove your side steps?
It takes all of about 10 minutes to remove them, maybe 15 mins to reinstall. If you replaced the 6 smaller nuts on each step with wing nuts you could install them both in 5 minutes tops.

I've never taken mine off, but I don't rock crawl. If I wanted to get into terrain like that, they'd be off in a heartbeat.
I have to clarify, though...I have a 2 door. I don't think the steps are in as much danger in a 2 door as they are in a 4 door. I'd probably take them off every time I went off roading if I were in a 4 door.

My wife wanted me to get some side steps for the Rubi and I did, I noticed it was an easy swap and have them in my shed for when I decide to go off roading as I see the difference in these.....the side rails are strong and heavy compared to the side steps so I know that the steps will not last a day off roading...so IMHO do the swap the day before you go off roading and save a few dollars ...by not replacing the broken parts after your trip....
