Default Door removal

Sorry in advance for all the newbie questions. I did a search and it seems taking the doors off can be pretty big pain in the ass. What have your experiences been? It looks like we'll have a nice stretch of warm weather here in MI so I'd like to take them off if it won't be too big of a hassle.

If it was any easier they would likely fall off while you are driving around town.
Remove torxs bolt from bottom of hinges. Throw away torx bolts. Trace opwer leaad down the door strap up into footwell. There will be a large plastic electrical connector. Locate red tab. Flick away from the block. press down on tab in dead center (bottom half) of same block. It doesn't move in much, so pull lightly down to check if it released.
Pull rubber grommets off the strap retainer.
lift door. repeat 2 to 4 times depending on your model.

Cool, thanks for the reply, sounds easy enough. Why do you say throw the torx bolts away?

Most people never put them back in.

Don't forget to check your local mirror laws, at a minimum you still need to run an outside mirror on the drivers side.

Do a search you will see a bunch of cheap DIY door off mirrors. Keep in mind in most places they have to be outside the vehicle so the stick on the airvent idea will not cover you legally.

One suggestion to make handling the doors easier: Roll down the windows first. Then you can reach in and use the handle on the inside to manipulate each door.

One other thought: It doesn't pay to get angry with the electrical connectors. And, after you finally figure it out and get a little practice, it really will become easy as pie.

do a search, look around , enjoy the site. Down about 8 threads from this , is a 4+ page thread on removing doors. There are more than a few diy for less than 20 bucks mirror solutions . If you feel the search is bring up to little, or to many, relax and read some of the threads. No telling what you will learn.
