Its also nice because with the engine warming up you get cabin heat much more quickly.

Remember, it's not a matter of "not needing it". Sure your jeep will probably start right up at -30 below. It's just a matter of making it easy on the engine.

I also don't leave it plugged in all night. I run a timer and just have it come on a couple hours before I leave in the morning.
This. I also on the mornings below -10 let it idle for 10-15 min to warm up (both the motor and the interior lol).

If you didn't get one installed at purchased just buy a magnetic block heater from you parts store for $10-$20 , I've used these on heavy equipment for years on cold mornings , there cheap and they work.

It better not snow as I still have my doors and roof off!

On my TJ, over the last winter it had a battery in desperate need of replacing so anytime it would be around 0 Celsius it would plug it in. When the battery was new I think I plugged it in when it was -20 or below and that was it. I've had batteries in cars start after being all night outside in some of our really rare cold times at -40 Celsius without being plugged in and it would start right up, but that was a optima battery. The cabin heater does warm up a lot faster when its plugged in, and its a lot easier on the engine as well. I plan to plug my JK in anytime it gets chilly this winter

And those small little oil pan heaters that you silicone onto the pan work great too. But make sure you get a small one or it will get to oil too hot.

Damn....I don't want to think about winter.....
70 days of more than 100 degrees this Summer, personally, winter can't get hear soon enough . . . . Looking forward to those cold nights of 69 degree weather.
