Default Engine hesitation

I am having a problem with the engine hesitation when accelerating. It is very quick and slight and intermittent, but frequent. Anybody have an idea where to start.

Does your jeep lag when accelerating on the start? Like when you step on the peddle it lags getting up to 4k-5k RPMs? Need to be more specific.

Usually it is in the middle of accelerating. I can replicate it sometimes by flooring the peddle and the car will chug a few times

Try cleaning your throttle body with throttle body cleaner. A bunch of carbon deposits usually get in the and either make the throttle body gate not open all the way or get stuck at certain parts. If that doesn't work then get somebody to remeasure your throttle body. Never touch the gate with your hands or try to open it manually, thats out it gets messed up and remeasured.

Take off your intake tube that goes into the front of your throtle body and you'll see a metal gate. Dont touch it, just spray it really good.

Youtube video on a older jeep but follow what this guy does.

Me and a few others had this issue with our jeeps with manual trans. I don't know if that's what you have. Anyway, replacing the crank position sensor fixed it. I referred to it as a momentary hiccup during acceleration. Happened at relatively low RPMs, typically when accelerating out of a turn. Someone had the problem and changing the crank sensor fixed it. After reading his post I did the same and it fixed mine also.

Wow! My 13 has had hiccups intermittently for a while now. Seems like any gear, always while accelerating or power to maintain speed, but unable to specifically recreate it. Thanks for the lead!

Default Is the crank sensor under the intake?

I just did the oil cooler replacement 3500 mikes ago and don’t really want to take all that apart again ☹️

I have had the random stumble for 100k, it comes and goes. At one point the thing would just shut off for exactly 5 minutes, it would not turn over, nothing at all, wait 5:00+ and it would crank and start right up. Nobody ever figured that one out, then it just stopped happening.

right now I get the stumble in 1,2 or 3 (manual) usually when starting off and taking a turn, makes no sense…
