Default Is this a fair price?

I received a quote today (from a well know parts and service provider in PHX) for a Terraflex 2.5" BB (with shock extenders) and wheel spacers (manufacturer was not specified) to fit 35's on my 2011 JKU. Parts and service were not broken out (typically a red flag for me), but they did send it via email in a less formal format. Total cost was $1100 (includes tax).

My take on how this should break down based on parts from Qtec:

BB Lift: $260
Shock Extenders: $85
Wheel Spacers: $200

Total: $545
Tax: $45

Sub Total: $590

This leaves $510 for service.

The Qtec site states this install should take 2-3 hours. I would think a professional would fall in on the low side of this time estimate. Now, I'm not saying they are trying to rip me off and in fact I'm thinking I may be missing some things here and they just didn't communicate the level of work that needs to be done. I thought I'd reach out to the forum and get some feedback.

Thanks in advance.

Why not take that $510 and buy some more mods. That's all easy work there

I've been considering it and honestly I'd love to do it. I have a serious lack of tools and no jacks or ramps. But, if I'm going to spend the money it makes more sense to spend it on something of greater value. I get that. But, this is my daily ride and I'm not looking to be without it for several days...nonetheless jack it up. So, for a newbie what's the rule...take Qtecs estimated hours for install and multiply by 3? Lol

If I did venture this on my own (or with a buddy) should I expect the instructions on Qtecs site to be complete and not leave me guessing?

There is probably somebody from the forum near you that would lend a hand with an install. I just put a rc bb on my jeep last week. I had never touched suspensions before but it was very simple.

Use that money elsewhere! I ended up shelling out 500 to install a 4" lift with arms and alignment. Would have done it myself, but got too antsy and couldn't work on the jeep in 10 degree weather. If i could do it again, i would have waited until spring and bought a nice rear bumper, or something else with that money.

Bring it by my place on a weekend and we can do it in about 4 hours.

The labor rates these guys charge are ridiculous. No mechanic has laid a hand on my jeep yet

And with the saved money you can put that toward the tools you are lacking, other mods that you can use the tools with, and of course the beer for the buddy helping with the install !
