Well, I finally test drove all three 2011 JK models today. I seriously had no idea how much fun they (all) were to drive. And that was with the doors/roof on! For those of you that own a JK how do drive to work and willingly get out of the vehicle and go sit at a desk?

Here are my impressions:

2 people in Jeeps waived to me?! The salesman said that was a tradition. I thought maybe the grin on my face had them worried. I felt like I was instantly in a brotherhood/club and didn't know the secret sign.

Sport--what you expect. Nothing really fancy. Automatic. Great sound system, great ride, "eh" on the acceleration. Lots of room in the back. This model was pretty vanilla, but still more fun than my Toyota Tacoma.

Sahara--decked out. Imagine all the extras (I once owned a BMW 330i) of a sports/luxury car in the form of an SUV. An SUV that comes apart at the doors/roof and is still legal. I can't think of an option it didn't have. Manual--WAY more acceleration, smooth shifting. Heated seats worked great. Nav was easy to use. The leather was really nice. Not BMW/Audi nice, but not bad. Steering wheel felt solid, doors didn't "clank", ride was quiet. Not sure you can hose off the leather, or would want to leave it out in the summer sun.

Rubicon--you could tell it was a bit heavier. Automatic. I started at lights in the lowest gear (1) and accelerated through (2) to "drive". That helped acceleration. I'm not sure you can drive it that way and if the lowest gears are for towing. 4WD was seamless and felt really solid. Obviously turning radius went down in 4WD.

Cosmos Blue looks really good in person. Mango Tango as well. Not really sure if the experience created more questions than it answered. I do know driving the Tacoma home wasn't nearly as fun.

I live 1:20 from Moab. I think there is a law requiring me to own a Jeep. Overall, a great ride!! Does it ever get old?

I will pull the trigger once tax return comes. Unreal dealer incentives on the 2010s. Serious discounts.

Cosmos Blue and Mango Tango

 

The cosmos blue teraflex JK is sick.

 

Not trying to be a jerk , but the middle pic looks like red and not Mango.

Looks red to me on my computer and itouch. What about the new cherry red?

I have to admit it looks red to me as well. I drive a Mango Tango, and it is not that color.
