Ballistic is not necessarily a good thing:

"denoting or relating to the flight of projectiles after power has been cut off, moving under their own momentum and the external forces of gravity and air resistance."

It always drives me nuts when I'm watching Top Gun and goose is like "We're going ballistic man!" as if it's a good thing in a jet. LOL.
