Ill be getting ready to drive from Tulsa down to houston here in a week or so I think the oil change to Mobil-1 is on the list of things to do before I go. Hopefully It smooths things out for me.

If you only have 2100 miles you need to dump that Mobile 1 ASAP.
You SHOULD NOT run full synthetic during break in. It can keep your engine parts from breaking in properly, you should wait until at least your 3rd or 4th oil change. I am not giving you my opinion, I am a master tech and this is stressed very strongly in the engine building courses. Just my .02 but it is up to you. Jon

How do you explain the engines that come from the factory with full synthetic?

My Cobalt SS came with Mobil-1 straight from the factory. Hummm maybe closer tolerances?

I hope this little car found a good home. Its a shame my right foot this car and the local police department did not get along. O well lots of fun times off road!

You bring up a valid point, I will explain.
Vehicles that use full synthetic DO NOT come from the factory with full synthetic, they come with a 'break in' oil. that is why it is important to wait the full milage interval prior to having your first oil change done. To allow the best possable break in time.
Also, in the dealership we have tore down engines with over 100k miles on them and they still have the cross hatch in the cylinders. Why? because the rings never seated. IE they were never properly broke in.
When we break in engines, we run 30w oil and do not fill the cooling system full to allow them to get good and hot for proper break in. then we drop the oil, replace it with a 5-30 or 10-30, replace the oil filter and top off the coolant and send it out.
Hope this helps. Jon

Edit- However, technology is advancing every day, I am simply speaking from experience,

Thats nonsense ..I spoke to a dozen people before putting it in, such as: more than one service manager from DC , Mobil-1 techs, friends that are mechanics, service manager ( from a nation wide repair fleet ), and others on this forum ( some of who put it in at 300- 500 miles ) and was told it was ok. If there was a prob. I would have heard about by now. Also your engine breaks in long before your 3rd or 4th oil change. Put your .02 back in your pocket.....

Can I have the $.02? I have heard both of these arguements. The truth is, no one can give you an exact number of miles it takes to break one in because they are all driven differently. And to be honest, properly breaking one in probably rarely happens on street driven vehicles. If it were a race engine, I would pay special attention to this scenario. On a street engine I don't think it really matters that much. Jeep short blocks are usually good for well over 100k miles. It's all the other crap that usually falls apart, and there's no way to properly break that stuff in. *THIS IS JUST MY OPINION*
