Default First windshield chip

Got my first rock chip in my '08 today.
Good news is that I called Safelite at 3:30 to schedule a repair before it spread across the whole windshield. (Its supposed to be about 20 degrees in the morning) They got here before 5:30 and fixed it within a half hour. And my insurance covered it for free.

I just had safelite finally fix my windshield after about 2 months, just in time for the safety inspection. Luckily it didn't spread any. If I would of known insurance would of covered it for free it would of been fixed a lot sooner.

I'm on my second windshield, and the third will be installed on Thursday. This time, a tiny stone chip morphed into a bottom-to-top crack. Having owned Wranglers and CJs previously, I made sure I had the glass coverage rider with no deductible. It adds only $12 a year to my premium. Twelve bucks is pretty cheap for new glass.

My regards,

Widewing

Windshield chips, cracks and damage are part of owning a Jeep. The steep flat windshields on the Jeep are like rock magnets. Welcome to the club. I had my first large chip less than 3 months after I had my JK and had to replace the windshield before the Jeep was 8 months old. A rock hit the windshield on the top drives side edge and its spidered all the way down to the bottom in several places. $100 out of pocket for my comp deductible and insurance covered the balance.
