Default Flat towing w/AEV bumper

Any of you guys figured out how to flat tow w/the AEV bumper and either a blue ox or roadmaster tow bar? Not interested in the currie bar or the mopar bar. Thanks!

Similar in concept to what you want to do I had an old Demco baseplate modified so it would slip between the AEV tow tabs which could be done with most any baseplate I would think. Two nuts are welded to each side of the mount so all that is needed when I want to tow is bolt the bar on with two grade 8 bolts per side then I can attach my Aluminator tow bar to the original baseplate tabs located on the modified baseplate. I had it fabbed up and now need to have it powder coated. The downside of course is you need to start with a baseplate. It works with the AEV skid intact.

I have an ARB front bumper and I had the chassis brackets made up. Works nice and cannot see unless you look for it. I would imagine you could do the same with your bumper.

Thanks alot for the pic's, that explains what needs to be done. I was considering getting a couple of brackets made to adapt from the AEV tow tabs to the blue ox/roadmaster tow bar. But after looking at your pics it looks like a better idea to make a "spreader" bar between the AEV tow tabs and then mount the tow bar to the spreader.

Here is mine tack welded and ready for final welding.... Hopefully to powder coating next week. Parts cut with waterjet, came out perfect!

I am literally about to do this very mod this weekend. Can you snap a zoomed picture of the structure attached to the jeep. Did you remove the recovery plates that came with the AEV bumper? Just looking to see how it is attached to the frame.

Thanks,
Shannon
