Question Folding Hard Top

Would you buy a hard top that has Jeep style hinges on top that allowed the front half to be folded back and snapped securely onto the rear half?

I want a hard top that is more functional, better looking and easier to use than a stock hard top. I don't think I'm alone in this, so if enough people speak up then maybe the after market sponsors will listen up.

wow, i never even thought of this, but hell yeah i'd buy one. I like the bestop aftermarket design because its only two peices which would solve my problem of air whistling through the center seam of the freedom panels and not even pressure on where the seam meets the winshield. a folding top would be great. un latch the front latchs and fold the whole thing back onto the top. clamp it down and viola... no need to take up all the cargo space in the jeep. i would buy one for sure

I'd like a different three piece for the unlimited. One over the front seats, one over the rear seats, then the rest of the top.

It would make it easier to lift and you could use the two front sections together as a bikini top over all the passengers.

Yeah I thought about buying the Bestop 2 piece top and adding some hinges like these (http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?partID=7289) and make my own foldable top...but that is a a good chunk of change to spend on an experimental mod which may not pan out. Plus I'd rather have a bigger opening for the sun and wind.

My other car is a Mustang GT convertible. I just unlatch 2 levers and push a button and the top is down in about 30 seconds. So I'm looking for the most sun with the least amount of work.

I know if I wait awhile some more options will be available as the JK will only get more popular, but if we can give the industry a nudge in the right direction then we should. Some clear panels in the hard top would be good too.

I certainly would consider it, but price would also be a factor in my decision.

I think it's a great idea. I would like to see one with three clamps in the front instead of two.

lets not give them any ideas until they figure out how to properly design the first hard top so it doesn't leak, one thing at a time .

If those foldable tops are not removable as well, then you have that extra weight when you want to take the whole top off. The top as it is now is not heavy, just bulky. With that added weight, it would be too difficult to balance it as you removed it.

I would't buy it, don't think it would work with my safari rack.
