Default Freedom top restriction ?

I just configured my JK on jeep.com and sent it off to a few dealers for a quote. One salesman that responded to me stated that there was a problem because the Freedom Top is on restriction. I asked him to clarify what that meant, but he hasn't gotten back to me yet. Anybody know? I know there was a TSB due to the tops leaking but I thought that issue had been fixed. Are they changing the design or something?

They underistimated the number of Hard Tops that people would order. Demand is greater than the supply. Papabear

That makes sense. Thanks. It's strange that the JKs are selling so well, but I rarely ever see one on the road. Everyone must be out on the trails.

Same here - only seen 1/2 a dozen since last year (in Montreal, Quebec), and none for the past 2-3 weeks. That's at least a small consolation. It would kill me to see them around!

Not only was demand underestimated, but DCX had to change Hardtop suppliers during manufacturing (I believe this occurred in Jan.07) so for a short period of time, they were running really short of tops, while the new supplier ramped-up their production. This shouldn't be an issue any longer, but I'm sure that there's a considerable backlog that they're working to clear.

It's worth the wait, for sure!

In my email from the dealer I was just told that the top is no longer on restriction for the 4 door hard top. The 6 speed with 4wd has been added to the list for the week. The auto is available.
