Default Friken limp mode

I have the jeep in the sig below with 2200 miles on it. Over the last three days the transmission has gone into limp mode twice. Limp mode is when the transmission is locked in 2nd gear and won't up shift or downshift. I do not get a service engine soon light an I can clear the problem by shutting if off and restarting it but it is really starting to piss me off. I did install a B&M transmission cooler about two weeks ago but that should not be the cause of the problem..should it? Anybody else with similar problems?

I have an appointment with the dealership on Friday. I can't wait for the fight to begin when I hear the words "your transmission cooler is causing the problem".

don't get to pissy about limp mode. its either limp the jeep in or walk yourself home. does sound like trans problems as there are many. you might be to late on the cooler but it will work well on your new trany

I had mine go into limp mode and it ended up being the Cat. Converter, and I think I had about 30k on it at the time.

Did you add trans fluid?

Check under the Jeep, look for the transmission wiring harness, make sure it has not fallen onto your driveshaft and is shorting out.

This happened to the wifes JK, Limped home 200 miles.

I added a little over half a quart to get it back up to full. I'm leaving for the dealership in about 30 minutes. Hopefully it will go into limp mode on the way over. If it doesn't, I doubt there will much they can do.

Went to the dealer today and of course no codes were present. I kind of figured that. The service adviser did show me a document that explained my problem and that there was a update to the computer to correct it. The tech "Flashed" my computer and said it should be good to go. I drove it over 100 miles today and no issues so hopefully the update took care of the problem.

How often was it happening before? Are you confident that fixed it or are you just waiting to see?

My 2010 just turned over 2000 miles and it went into limp mode. I couldn't figure out why it was doing 3500 RPM at 40mph.

I ended up shutting it down and restarting which fixed the problem. So there's a ECU update that can fix this?

It’s not locking into gear, it knocks the RPM down to 4000 and won’t climb no matter how hard you press the pedal. Let up off the pedal and ease down and it will pick up speed and shift normal as long as you do not exceed 4000.RPM. Pull over, shut it off and restart it and it goes away until it happens again. Usually in a few miles if you kick it down.
