Fuel Injector Cleaner?
I tried a search for this and found no answers. I hear all sorts of things about different fuel injector cleaners out there. First of all, do they work? And second of all, which ones? There's always the $3 STP stuff at the gas station, but I've seen other stuff like the BG 44K stuff that's $15-$20 a can!
If they do work, how often should they be used? Thanks!

Fuel injector cleaner has its merits. All cleaners are pretty much the same with the cleaning agents used. I perfer Lucas fuel treatment and injector cleaner.
Since the gasoline industry is trying to save money, a penny pinching way to do this is to add less cleaning additives to thier fuel.
The multiport injectors sit right over the cylinders. Heat soaking occurs when you drive your vehicle short distances. Heat soaking is when the heat of the engine after it is turned off, transfers to the injector. The heat then burns off the fuel left in the injector. This can cause a residue to be left in the injector. Over time the residue builds up, partialy blocking the injector port.
Injector cleaner removes this build up. I normally add a 5.2 ounce bottle of Lucas treatment and injector cleaner to a full tank every 6K miles or so.

Back in my college days, I drove a 88 Dodge Lancer ES Turbo.. I would have to have the injectors cleaned every 15k miles in that thing and it only burned Premium
.. I wish I knew what the dealership used, because after I would get it back.. You could tell a HUGE difference in performance.. In my YJ, I would put in a bottle of Chevron Techroclean or something like that with every oil change.. It was like $5 or so at a parts store..
