The years when i used to test octane ratings, i found out that on average the MON is approx. between 8 - 10 lower than the RON, and it was rare to get a MON below 78. So if you were putting in 95, figure the MON to be 85, so the US rating would be 90 octane.

I wonder how much it would cost to have someone ship me some gasoline from Kuwait? Maybe we could cut out the record profit-making US oil companies and save some cash. That would mean more modifications to the Jeep.

hehe i wish i could help you all out and send you fuel, but it evens out, you guys have cheaper jk parts and have to pay no shipping while i pay around $18 per kilo. My bro just ordered tires which are 30kg a piece so imagine how much we pay only for shipping. thats without the wheels and without the lift. So tommy3rd your saying that the 95 octane i used was the 90 that i should be using? and that the 90 iam using now is too low?

Yes it has the same 3.8 liter engine, however, the tuning may very well be different. When Jeep is building vehicles destined for that part of the world they may very well be adjusting the tuning in the ECM to run on the higher octane fuel that is commercially available there in Kuwait.

Everyone has heard about flash tuners like the diablo and so on that adjust your engine tune to get maximum performance out of the vehicle but the trade off is you have to run 93 octane here in the states right? It's the same thing. They say "Oh, this batch of wranglers is getting shipped to the middle east. We better set the ECM tune to run on that fuel." Here in the states they are tuned to run on 87. You can run 93 and it won't hurt it, but you won't really see any advantage from it.

I use the 87 octane and get 1-2mpg better then the higher octane. Here the 87 octane costs about $0.10 more than the higher octane fuel.

we have it the other way around, the higher is more expensive. theres just a difference of less than a dollar when filling up.
