Fun in the snow.
So, here in Connecticut we got a fair little "Nor'easter" yesterday. Well, I'm sitting at home last night, bored, and see on the TV that the local Dept. of Transportation (DOT) and State Police are asking drivers to stay off the roads, because the DOT can't keep up with the roads, and traffic is making it tougher. Over 300 accidents reported yesterday alone... blah blah blah. This was at about 7 PM - and, made me want to go driving.
Around 9:30 PM, I'm still bored. I decided it might be fun to "go rent some movies" (that was my cover story, muhuwahahahahaaa!
). So, I asked my wife is she wanted to come along. She looks outside, sees the snow drifts (2'+ at our doorway) and then looks at me like I'm insane, but then says "sure, let's go."
Well, we got to the video store (C-ckbuster) no sweat, even though the roads SUCKED. I'm running the stock Goodyears that came on my Sahara's 17" wheels, but they were champs in the snow (in 4HI & LO, that is). The ESP works amazingly well, although it prevented me from kicking the back end out quite as far as I wanted to, a couple times.
Anyhow, the ride back was just a blast. We hit a school parking lot (unplowed), dropped the Jeep into 2WD, and it was donut city. Then, back into 4WD, and up some snowy hills. Finally, I "buried" myself into a huge snow pile (gave way under the weight of the Jeep). I couldn't power through it going forward (at least, not acceptably "nicely" enough with the wife in the Jeep), but I was able to back out no sweat.
All in all, it was a great time, and I got that great "my Jeep is an unstoppable tank" feeling.
The ride home from our little snowy adventure was cool, and it seemed like my Jeep just couldn't resist running over every other snowbank.
After the Jeep was parked and we were back inside our nice warm house, my wife says "that was fun - we should do that more often."
And then brought up that she wished we had brought our camera, for some action pics  In any case, I'm thinking that I might not have to wait QUITE as long as I had thought for a lift...
Anyhow, just felt like sharing this story - it was a BLAST, and further cements my Jeep's place as the most fun vehicle I've ever had the pleasure to own. I expect that this will be the last major snowfall event here in CT for the season, so I'm glad I got out to enjoy it while it was here... now, I just can't wait to go have some topless fun when Spring arrives! This "Jeep thing" just keeps getting better and better - you all understand.
