Lightbulb Gas Saving Tips- All Pitch in

This is Mainly for those Highway Drivers/Long Trips

I've been doing alot of reading reguarding MPG..Here's what I came up with:

Upgraded Exhaust - Helps free up the air flow will get you better mileage

Upgraded Intake - Helps to get more air in

-with Bigger Tires, Higher Gears will help..aka 5.13 4.88

Loose the extra weight..duh, but Jeep owners dont carry around stuff

Drive Smoothly, easy on the on the gas and take your time to do things

Manual Wins in city, But Auto and Manual are Tied on the highway

usmcdoc14 added:
***find the speed that gets you the best MPG and set the cruise control to it***. (right now mine is 70mph)

***stay off the A/C*** ---- Take off the softtop

I don't know how much stock you put in it, but I read a study recently that claimed there was no significant difference in gas consumption between using the A/C or riding with the windows open.

good, then you can afford to send me cash so I too don't have to eeek out some MPGs
The only reason I have A/C is it came with the package and I can convert it to OBA later

you don't watch Mythbusters do you

A/c sucks power from the crank, windows down add drag. In a aerodynamic car over 50mph windows down uses more gas than A/C, less than 50 windows down wins.
seeing as a Jeep JK (and a lifted one at that) has the aerodynamics of Rosie O'Donnell wearing inline skates while holding a brick I highly doubt rolling down the windows is going to add much more drag

Besides. Its a Jeep, the DOORS COME OFF, so take the friggen doors off
(oh and you just removed 200+lbs by doing that as well)

I read an news clip about guys getting over 100 mpgs in their cars. Some of the things they did were taking out the A/C compressor, power steering pump, and taking off the side mirrors. Also removing interior trims pieces, and unneccsary parts. Also you can drive without the spare. They were also turning off there cars on down hills and while sitting at red lights.

What has saved me the most gas is consolidating errands into one trip. That has been harder since getting the Jeep, because I want to drive it all the time.
