Talking Getting back into the JK World

Happy Friday everyone. Note to admin, I think this is the right spot for this post. If not, please forgive me as I have been here since 2017 when I gave up my JK.

Good news is I am getting back into the JK life and am ordering a 2024 Rubi tomorrow. I have to make the best of an unfortunate life change. So, advice please! I have never owned a Rubi but want one as my future will be spent 50% highway, 20% trail (light) and 30% beach. I want to go with the Extreme 35" package that has 4.56 gearing ...unfortunately I have to get the auto with this package. I am looking for opinions on that build or sticking with the 33's and 4.10 (with a manual). Anyone care to offer an opinion?

What about manual JL Ruby with the 4.88 gears option. Allows bigger tires and now you can order the full floating rear axle with increased towing capability to way higher than 3500lbs.

I get the idea but I like the JKU. Thanks for the input!

Edit: this shows you how long I've been out of the game I guess I'm looking at a 2024 JL I'm ordering. So much to catch up with now.

LOL, yep, you’ve got a bit of reading to do!

I have just rejoined the JK world myself. I bought a 2014 Willys new, built the snot out of it (friends call it Willycon now), used it for 3-5 weeks a year out in Moab (I live in Atlanta) from 2016-2021, decided I was sick of the 2.5-day drives each way in a 2-door canvas-top Jeep, bought a new Defender, sold the Jeep to a friend who was with me for a week in Moab that year, texted him at New Years this year to remind him of his promise to offer it to me first if he ever wanted to sell, got that text in May, drove up to Ohio at the end of last month, came home with my Jeep, largely the same but for 3000 additional miles and a lot more surface rust from sitting outside for two years (I’ve always garaged it, plus it’s always lived in Georgia.)

Anyway, in addition to needing new O2 sensors to pass emissions, I’ve ordered (and just received) the current Quadratec catalog. I figured a lot of aftermarket options had changed since I was last in the game, and they have. I spent last night dog-earring a number of pages for further consideration.

And for the record, I’ve owned 44 vehicles and never considered rebuying one, or even another of the same model. This includes 911 Turbo, some other 911s, XJ Cherokee, and a lot of cars I liked very much while I had them, but then moved on and didnt’ look back. But I just couldn’t get the JK 2-door manual out from under my skin.

I guess the big question is your budget - $30,000 or $60,000? And right now price of JKs in nice shape are high. Dragged up by JL prices.
