Sorry if this is a stupid question.
Jeep is a seperate entity from Chrysler isn't it? I haven't read through any of the articles so I don't know the details. Selling off Chrysler doesn't mean the Jeep line does it?

GM has some issues of its own, and I don't really know how they'd be able to successfully merge the two organizations... I mean, there's HUGE overlap among product offerings. So, they'd be forced to kill off at least half of the combined products lines' offerings. Luckily, there's NO competitor for the Wrangler, now that GM got rid of the Geo / Chevy Tracker (that is SO a joke).
I just don't see it... why not take on Ford, too, while they're at it, and change the company's overall name to "Don't buy Japanese, please, Inc."

By Chrysler they mean Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep conglomerate. I don't think a year of red ink is enough to warrant sale of the division. Maybe demerger, but not outright sale. Especially to GM, posting heavy losses again this year.
In any case, Jeep is fairly profitable (at least the Wrangler); no one would play around with this vehicle, it's guaranteed sales. No one should worry about this.
BTW, if GM DID take over Chrysler, you might get some decent work on the interior. The H3 interior is extremely functional and well-executed with nice materials to boot. Wouldn't be a bad thing to have that rub off on the Wrangler.

GM>Chrysler

not sure I could look at my Jeep quite the same.
