Default Good Tip

Like a bonehead, I locked my keys in the car, so I called a AAA to come out to my office and pop my doors. The guy could not do it so he called a another AAA guy that was in the area and he had no luck. Now if I had the soft top on, it would not have been a problem. Fortunately for me my JEEP Dealer is right around the corner. I went over explained my situation and for $5.00 they cut me a key that wont do anything but unlock my doors. Switching back to soft top soon so I wont have to do the hide a key thing. Just thought I would pass it on

That is a good tip, thanks. Did you have to give them the VIN#?

My GF and I managed to lock ourselves out of the house the other day, went for a ride on my motorcycle so she pushed the garage door close button and ran out like Indiana Jones....oooops the remote is in the Jeep....

Luckily the soft top is on, so I removed the back window and made her (yep it was her fault ) climb through the back window. I wondered if my neighbors wondered what the hell we were doing....musta looked funny to them.

Hmmm...

I've always kept a spare key in my wallet...

and when we are "wheelin" we use it so the big wad of keys doesnt bang off the steering column and drive us crazy...

I always get an extra key cut that doesn't have the chip in it. Costs about $5 and you can usually get it done at any place. Keep the spare key around but it will only open doors. Hell of a lot cheaper then a locksmith or damaging something.

Came in handy when i locked the keys in the dakota.

Do all JKs have chips in the keys for the ignition? I ask because a coworker has a JK but his key is black where mines grey.
