Goodyear Duratrac question.
I currently have 35-12.5-17 Fierce Attitudes and they aren't bad in the snow but I feel there are better choices. Living near the Buffalo NY area I want a tire good in both mud and snow and Duratracs seem the be the general consensus on that. I was curious tho how the 315/70/17 would perform in snow being wider and all. Mine now like to float on the snow sometimes and that doesn't help much. Anyone with any input on the width versus snow performance? Thanks for any advice!
My tire size calculator says they should be 0.1 in. narrower, Goodyear's websites says they are 0.2 in wide. Those measurements are if your current tires actually do measure 12.5 wide (they don't always).
I have heard that Duratracs tend to run a little small. I never actually took a tape measure to the last set I had, not that it would matter, they were 235/75r16's (on an XJ).
With that small difference either way, I don't know that it would be enough to notice driving it down the road through the snow.
I do have to say they are a great tire!

Running 33X12.50X15 also.
Gotta say I had high expectations for this tire.
Blown away so far.
I haven't had the chance to do any serious offroad snow driving, but I can tell you in the 4-5 times we've had snow in AM, the drive to work was effortless, safe, and comfortable.

I ignored the "snowstorm" that hit the southeast Feb 2014 and drove back and forth across SouthEast/MidAtlantic several times that week on uncleared roads ( The Southeast for the most part have no prep or plows or anything and are unused to white stuff.) on 1 year old 315/70/17 Duratracs; they did great on ice and snow.

That is not my experience. My duratracs are great. Got the slipperiest snow on Monday in NJ. Snow on top of slush on top of ice. Some cars were just sitting in place with wheels spinning not me. I did need 4wd but they did great.
