Default got a question for the 2 doors.

My wife and I recently found out we are having our first child . However I have a 2 door and we are wondering where the heck a stroller is going to fit. these things are huge! haha. So I was wondering if you guys could post pics of your setup. Carseat pics would be great too! Thanks!

Congorats on the new addition!

No problems with the carseat for me, i have it behind the drivers seat, this let mom reach the kiddo from the passenger seat. We did occasionally have to do the baby relay to get her in and buckled, but i got really good at getting her in through the drivers side. Stroller? Unless it was one of those umbrella ones its a tight fit, i had to take out the back window the few times we took the big one. (grayco foldup one with like 8" wheels on it)

then i blinked and now my baby climbs in there by herself.

(i did consider a hitchmount cargo tray/box, but never got around to it. I know a guy that has one for his jeep & uses it a lot)

Congrats on the baby.

Car seats can be a little tricky with a 2 door, especially the infant carriers.

I found to get the carrier in and out I had had to locate it behind the passenger seat and then I had to tilt the passenger seat forward and tilt the drivers seat backwards then reach in from the drivers door and to get it in and out. There was not enough room to get the carrier between the piller and the front seat.

Once my youngest moved to a fullsize rear facing seat he had to go in and out from the back and I needed to reach over the back of the seat to buckle him in. Now that they are both forward facing it is pretty easy, I let them crawl over the center console between the front seats to get into the back and I get in and reach between the seats to buckle buckle them in, I find this easier than trying to squeeze myself between the seat and the pillar. It isn't easy but it is doable, I hear the 4 door versions are a lot easier but who wants that many doors.

Forward & Rearward facing

Two forward facing seats

As for strollers, get yourself one of these it fits nicely behind the seat.

There is room behind the seat for the Jeep umbrella stroller, a pack-n-play and diaper bag but if you are nead more than that I recommend getting some kind of external rack.

I went from a 2 door to a 4 due to the baby seat thing. Mt 5 year old could get in and out under his own power, but getting the baby in and out in the bucket was a real pain. Move one forward and tilt it, then recline the other. I have the kids while my wife is at work and I like to get get out of the house. This became enough of a hassel that I got the 4 door. It is not a real JEEP with 4 doors, but for now...close enough. Congrats on the kid!

Funny, i forgot about the days of rear facing seats. That was tough!

I understand why people want the 4drs, but the way i saw it, in a few short years the kiddo will be out of the seat, and i plan on keeping my jeep forever, so in the long run, it was just a blip in time.

I agree with the blip in time thing! I absolutely love my 2 door and plan on keeping it forever. Now if you guys can show me the stroller packed and such. what do you guys recomend? Also if I use a rack how do I keep the stroller dry? (without taking a few hours to pack it up). Thanks guys! I am so excited to be a dad! Can't wait for our future jeeper!

Hey Erik -
I didn't get my YJ until the little one was a few years old and heck- we packed bikes (VIA a tire rack) and a kid trailer in the rig... camping gear ...and the whole kit-n-caboodle

--->You know, these Jeeps are bigger So the possibilities are just that much more

That said... Not sure about the answer to your question but:

I wouldn't try to fit our gargantuan stroller in my Jeep. Heck it takes up most of the cargo room in the Exploder if laid flat. We use an umbrella stroller when we take the Jeep.

Our stroller is as big as the jeep. No stroller in the jeep, however s car seats are not a problem. Really easy with the top off.

Yup. Umbrella stroller in the Jeep. A no brainer.
