Default Hail

My wife was driving her new Patriot just outside of Walsenburg when a hail storm came out of nowhere and caught her but good. I almost wish we'd have bought the white one so we could have just painted Titleist on the hood and gone on. It looked like someone took a ball peen hammer to it. Anyhow $7,000 is what it will cost the insurance company to fix it.

The day before I was driving my JK through the same area, top down, grinnin' and singin' at the top of my lungs. What if I'd been hit with that? Has anyone out there been caught in such a storm with their JK and have some tales to tell? Does anyone know if the soft tops are golfball sized "Hail Rated" ?

We had some hail the other day and i was oslo pondering the potential damage. IMO the only thing that would be damaged is the hood and that is pretty simple to replace. Hopefully the cowel would be spared.

back in 96 i had a geo tracker with a cheap top on them and i was cought in a hail strom dented up the hood pretty good but the top just acts like a big pillow it absorbs there impact and the jeeps top is much more stronger than the top i had on the tracker so the hood would probably be the only thing that and the cowl i would say

unless you like the ball peen hammer/golfball edition.

I saw some insurance pictures from Indiana several years back from hail damage to a new car lot... EEK!

we had some hail here last week - probably pea-to-marble sized, and my jk ended up doing just fine. i think merfsiu is right - the biggest concern would be the hood (and windshield).

lesson learned, though - wait until the hailstorm is over before going out to make sure the jeep is okay... hail hurts. no wonder my wife rolls her eyes so often.
