probably could have been a little cleaner install but wanted to make sure this would help before tidying up things.
WOO HOO, now THAT is a TWOFER!

Two in one, insulated roof and protection via a tin foil hat! How cool is that!

Seriously nice and effective but I'd either paint it or glue cloth to it so the echo factor would be cut down.

No echo factor that I have noticed and as for aliens??? If they were ever to show up this would be the place. You might think that they have already landed after a trip to our local Super Wal-mart.

If I get my wish and they build a Nuclear Power Plant near buy I will be ahead of the game with some protection already built in.

Radiant barriers require an air space. Part of the reason these things work is the aluminum does not emit heat well, but if you paint it or add cloth it will not work as well.

So far so good! Summer is here with a vengance with the last three days over 115 deg. F yesterday 119. When I got into the Rubi this afternoon the temp on the dash started at 130 then calmed down to 119 but the inside cooled within minutes to comfortable temps with the head liner cool to the touch. The gap in insulation between the removable tops was scorching and would litterally burn you.

Thanks for the follow up. Is it staying attached good so far? I think this is something I might do. What kinda insulation do I need to ask for and how much does it take?

Cut out front pieces to fit indented areas of removable panels.

No more baked head syndrome.
My grandparents used to live there, friggin waay too hot! Been there when it was 130+. Good idea!

The stuff comes in roles different lengths and widths. I bought the 2ft wide X 25ft long and had plenty left over for windows in my Lance camper. Price was about +- 23 bucks. The materiel looks like bubble wrap covered in thin silver (aluminized) coating. On the hottest days so far this year it has taken away the brain cooker over my head relatively fast. The rest of the car takes a few miles to cool but it is much better than without it in the Bullhead heat. I think I may make some smaller pieces to cover the remaining chinks in my thermal armor since the hard top isn't coming off until probably October 1st. Found that aluminized windshield sun shade helps alot keeping the dash from over heating.

It may be hot here but for 8 months or so you can't beat it and no crowds to deal with. Lots of mountains and abandoned mines to explore right out the back door. If you want to party 10 casinos (Laughlin) right across the river and Vegas 90 miles away
