Default Hard top/soft top question

Hey guys and gals, I've been trying to ponder up some ways I could bring in some extra dough to put towards the jk, and was thinking about the possibility of selling my freedom hardtop and buying a used soft top...what do you guys think? I ride with the top off 95% of the time in the spring, summer, and fall....and the winters here in tx aren't anything...those of you with soft tops on your 4 doors, do you like it? Would you prefer that over a hard top? I guess I'm looking for pro's and cons here...and about what is the going rate for a used freedom top??

Thanks all!
Colby

check out Craigs List there are tons of people selling their hard tops between $1500 -$2200. Personally i say keep the hard top and find your self a good used soft top to fun with during the summer and throw your hard top on in the winter

It looks like the OP wants to bring IN some cash, not spend more.

Mine is a 2 door soft top, and rain, sleet or snow, I wouldn't change it for a hard top.

The ability to flip the front end of the top in about 20 secs is awesome.

Security and long distance trips would be a problem with just the soft top though.

Yea, the only think I miss over having a hard top is a little bit of security. With the extra cash you could easily justify a tuffy lock box or something.

I only have a 2 door. I actually have both tops now. But if I had to pick only one...it would be the hard top for me. Winters in NE PA can get pretty brutal. I had a soft top on my '01 TJ for 10 years and always wanted a hard top. But...you being in Texas, soft top sounds more logical as long as security isn't an issue.

it's nice to have a hardtop, especially if you use your jeep to commute to work
