Default Heads Up

I received the following email from the US National Forest Campground Guide and thought I would pass it on.

Heads-up!!!
Just before the holiday recess, a bill was submitted by three Senators that, if enacted into law, will influence your national forest recreational opportunities. S-2438, short titled: "Fee Repeal and Expanded Access Act of 2007", permits national parks to continue charging entrance fees but disallows national forests from charging fees for any facilities except developed campgrounds. AND, receipts might collects must be sent to the Treasury, never to be seen again by the national forest. Currently, at least 80% of receipts collected by a forest MUST be used for the operation, maintenance, and enhancement of the recreational facilities where it was collected. Repealing fees sounds great but, by my way of thinking, to lose all the income is wrong. I will end now or this newsletter will go on for far too long but we will be discussing this proposed bill on the National Forest Community Forum. Join us and add your thoughts.

So the money to run the parks/areas will just come from the government? Hmmmm. I'd be afriaid of them cutting back and using the money for "other means".

I don't like the sound of this at all. Those places require a lot of money to operate and as it is, they don't have enough, now they will have to request more than ever from the government .

Don't get me wrong I support our troops.

This smells of moving money to the Military in a back handed way.
I guess I've lost my trust of anything the government does.

I'm calling my representatives tonight and chewing the heck out of them.

What makes you think it has anything to do with money going to the military? It could just as easily be money to our congress' pet projects.
