First off Welcome. As far as sugguestions go you are gonna get a whole variety of answers. My first Mod was grab handels for Rugged Ridge.
Also I see your from AL. Be sure to check the The South section. It has all kind of trail ride info etc. Here is the link....

What is your plan with your jeep?

Are you going to do a lot of offroading? then rescue gear would be pretty high on the list (not as cool as wheels, tires and a lift but important)

Then again wheels, tires, and a lift are cool and make your jeep stand out from most others.

Bumpers, winch, bikini top, k&n air filters... Man, the list goes on.

Whatever you choose have fun and know your first mod is just your first mod, there are so many more in your future.

You have caught the disease.

Congrats:

welcome big hoot.
1st mods depend on what you want to acomplish w/ the jeep
2.5-3" lift with tires and rims will be the most noticable
bumper mod/winch
extra power ie. programmers, intakes etc.
the options are limitless.
Just do what you want to do. it's your jeep, not ours so take the advise with a grain of salt. there is alot of good tech here but theres also opinions here if you know what i mean.
good luck and post pics.

Anything in this list could be your first. I picked fairly low priced mods because we all know some of the higher cost mods don't come all in one weekend.

K&N CAI - Rusty's Offroad 100 dollars also easy to return to stock for water areas ------- hydrolock bad
Towing hitch
Spiral ring bind your owners manual (Staples) lays flat when using it!
fire extinguisher
Black grill mod
JK logo= must do
Drilled mirrors= must do
Seat belt wrap to quiet seat belt flap
Air vent spot mirror mod
Convex mirror for doors off driving
Liner type floor mats
Rotated rear view mirror 180 degrees... try it...free and easy to go back
