HELP! Wheels/Tires, etc....
Hi there everybody~
I have been going crazy and doing a ton of research with different vendors, blogs, this forum etc... but i'm still confused with all the information.
ok, so i have an 07 Sahara, she's my baby and it's time for some mod's.
Recently i've purchased a few new items waiting to be installed.
For one- i'm totally replacing the oem headlights with new housing. I found this guy through a thread on this forum who is fantastic for lighting consulting. This man is a genius! Building me a custom ready- to -install harness. Cibie H4's/Narva 100/90w bulbs.
Check out: Danielsternlighting.com
He was super helpful to me- i'm all new at this stuff...
*looking for a stainless fuel door. ordered the rugged ridge, and returned. it looked cheap and didn't fit w/o drilling. Any suggestions? i know the Mopar Jeep fuel door cover is sweet but mad expensive....
Got some Rugged Ridge grille inserts (comes one piece)- havent installed that yet either but i'm thinking it's going to look pretty cool.
got an Alpine CDE-133BT CD receiver from Crutchfield so that i can be Bluetooth ready. I was really skeptical about messing with my stereo system. i think the oem system in the 07 sahara is amazing! but,the guy at Crutch told me that by just changing the face plate it won't change the sound quality. i really hope that is true! Anybody who has done this please give me some feedback. thanks!
Got a SportRack 3 bike spare tire rack (very excited about this)- not installed yet either..
So now- for the big ticket (or bigger) ticket items needed (wanted)
Wheels/tires. i need some guidance here. bigtime. i do not have a lift. my jeep is my DD. i don't do any off roading. although, sometimes on these back country roads it feels like i do! Mostly, watching out for deer... hence, the need for the lighting upgrade.
looking for more aggressive look w/o affecting my ride. my jeep came with 255 70/18.'s
i was told from the guys at Discount Tires the largest i can go w/o a lift is 285 70/17. I was thinking i'd go to 17's b/c tires are cheaper and better look w more sidewall. What do you guys think? i hear everyone talking about 33's- not really even sure what that means (but i know what they look like and i like it) think i'd need a lift for those tho and since i don't do any off roading might not be the right thing.
I am currently thinking- MB TKO's with 285 70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers. Anyone have this set up? if so, please post a pic! Even if you have a diff wheel with this tire and no lift, so i can get an idea. Do you think this set up will change the look enough for me to spend that cash?
Another question- I've never considered a lift before...b/c i cant spend the money on it. but, now since i'm considering a wheel/tire upgrade i have some interest.. are there any very affordable slight lifts out there that will not affect the quality of my ride? Or will that be just a waste of money better spent elsewhere?
Thanks for any help!
Tara
