look the photo of the 60" hi lift. Imagine the same situation with a 48" hi lift...

I was stuck in very deep mud at the Terrebonne' s Trail in 2008, a guy had a 60" hi lift, and there was about 6" left...

Well, actually, the photo shows about 15" left. Each hole is an inch.

The other option is to pull from a different point. This example shows pulling from the top of the tire. A strap can be put around the tire and pulled from lower on the jack.

Don't get me wrong - size DOES matter. but if the Hi-Lift is used as a means of last resort you can make a 48" one work. It's easier to fit on the vehicle too.

Again, just my opinion. Not right, not wrong.

Wrong. I have the same hi-lift, and, 15 holes = 12.5 inches

Sum a gun - you're right! Still ain't 6 inches.

No matter - it's not the size of the hole that matters, it's how you use it.

Not sure how my error in lifts-per-hole makes a difference in how you use the thing in an emergency. Again, the point isn't that a longer jack isn't better. Of course it is. Do you NEED a longer jack to use it successfully to get out of a jamb? No, not in my opinion.

Please, by all means, buy a 60" jack if that's what you want. I'm just saying it's not what I need.

60" definitely has its benefits but mounting it is tough. Here's mine on Hi-Lift's new tube brackets

Nice set up. It's always nice to see a Jeep that's well seasoned.

I ended up going with a 48" extreme.
