Default How To Buy A Jeep?

First off I have never bought a new car/jeep before. I have owned two used 2000 jeep wranglers and one 1998 jeep grand cherokee.

I am going to purchase my first new jeep around October of this year. I would like to know how I go about ordering or buy one off the lot and which way is cheaper.

-How do I order a jeep? Do you just walk in and say I want to order a jeep? I tired that earlier today and the guy kept saying why order one when we have some on our lot?

-How do I get the price down, he kept saying he could get me sticker price (32,000)? I told him I know plenty of people online getting them for 0-500 over invoice.

-What should I take with me to try and get a lower price?

Basically I need a write-up on how to buy a jeep. So I can practice at dealerships before October  I am to excited to wait.

I ordered mine from a friend's dealership, and got 500 over invoice. I also talked to a dealer near Seattle, just to see what the color I ordered looked like. He tried to sell me one, and I told him that I had one on order, and just was just looking at colors. The dealer said I had got a great deal, but he would match it if I wanted to order from him instead. I think if you are willing to wait for an ordered Jeep, you should have no trouble getting 500 over, many here have done better.

Since 2000 between the wife and I we have bought a 2002 RSX-S, 2003 Element, 2005 Acura TL and a 2005 Odyssey, the only one we have kept is the TL as I have made it CUSTOM to my driving needs, so on that note I can say that never be too anxious to buy, look around and see if you find what you want on a lot, test drive it as you stole it, and then go home and do your homework.
Edmunds and Vehix.com have info that you can print and use as ammo when dealing , [ personally I paid 28k for our Rubi, 4 door, smoker's package( was the only one on the lot , no one smokes @ home) and got an excellent trade for our then Ody.
Not sure what are the deals if you order one, but personally would go crazy seeing all the acronyms used to track the delivery of your new baby....good luck and remember not to look so eager to buy.....they pick up on that like flies do dog poop......
Good luck and don't forget to wave....

Go to Jeep.com, build your jeep, then click on the dealer search/vehicle locate, and find one your happy with. Call them and ask them if they want to sell it, and if they do tell them another local dealer is willing to sell you one at 1% under inoice or invoice or whatever you're willing to pay but they dont have one quite as close to the options you want. If they agree go buy it, if not go to the next closest one you find.

Here's how I bourght my JK Rubicon.

Went online to find options available. The best place for that is Kelly Blue Book ( http://www.kbb.com ). Why KBB as opposed to www.jeep.com? I like the fact that KBB gives you all the 3-character option codes with invoice (sometimes called FWP) price and MSRP. That way when you go to a dealer you can be armed with accurate information. Then you could go out to Jeep.com and find your vehicle. I have only 3 dealerships in the area, so I went to each one and asked about pricing to buy. (Never, never, mention you will have a trade-in! That is a separate transaction. Always agree upon a sale price first!).

Once you decide upon which options you can afford and want, again contact the salesperson and ask them to put in writing all the "additional costs", such as tax, title, DOC fee, and so forth. Yes, you need to consider this as it appears there is a great variance among some delaers for these items, such as the DOC fee (which was $35 at my dealership).

Ask each dealer to put their offer in writing!
I then went home and created a spreadsheet showing all these items and their costs, including the "additional items." Once I had this information, I went back to all but the lowest dealer. Tell them you have a confirmed price from other dealers - will they match it? Do not show them the price quotes, but do tell them the total price. If they say they will match it, ask them to put it in writing!

Now you are ready to purchase your 07. If none of the dealers have the 07 equipped as you want it, order it! Yes, there will be a wait if you order, the wait, to me, is worth it as I'm sure you will not be disappointed!

You may want to check out Edmunds ( http://www.edmunds.com ) and look at their car buying tips - very useful tips!

You posts do not show your location, but I will offer you this: If you don't mind the flight, you can get a great deal at Barton Jeep in Spokane WA. When I went there, they agreed to sell mine at invoice! That alone could save you the cost of your flight up here. They are a great dealership and will treat you very well!

Sorry this is a little long, but it will be worth your while in the end.

I priced mine out at Jeepwarehouse.com and was prepared to order from them. Their price is essentially invoice (FWP). I talked to a couple other dealers and my local dealer ended up matching the Jeepwarehouse price so I ordered through them. Check out Jeepwarehouse.com - they have very positive reviews from those who have bought from them and even if you don't buy from them you can use their pricing to bargain with other dealers. Good luck!
