Default How do I ship a soft top AND frame?

I sold my soft top and frame if I can ship it. I have the OEM MOPAR soft top. I don't know how far the frame can be broken down. So far, it looks like its too big to go UPS or FedEx.
Can someone who's shipped one give me some advice?
Thanks!

I wish I could help you, but I tried this route last year and finally gave up because it was such a PITA to ship. And I am a shipping manager for my company, that's all I have done for the last 25 years. It's just too big in its assembled state. You might check with the dealer, they may have the original boxes from Mopar from when someone ordered a top, or at least can show you how to break down the frame into a shippable size.

when i bought my jeep it came dual top. i sold the soft top to a guy in KY. i took my top to a fedex freight center. not your normal fedex place but a freight center and all i did to ship the actual top was go around it a few times with that shipping siran-wrap stuff. the door surounds and windows were still in the factory boxes so they were all ready to go.

this is the way i shipped my mopar top thru ups...and it arrived in great shape...
break the frame down as much as possible...you will have some frame rods that will not be able to break down..
...buy alot of bubble wrap...
....buy some clear packaging tape 2 rolls,...
....find a large thick plastic bag ,or a refrigerator box...sears or any appliance stores should have and will give you...
...buy some good packaging twine...and 4 zip ties..

now pull out the plastic inserts in the back of the top, they are the flexible plastics that make the back corner parts of the top stand straight.
unzip all the windows ..lay them all together ...use plastic bags between them so the will not scratch themselves when shipped...tie the frame rods together with the zip ties or the packaging twine..

place the hardware and the plastic inserts in the middle of the top,,roll the top neatly like a taco...i know this is funny but it works..tie some packaging twine around both sides of the top..tie securely..

wrap the top completely with one layer of bubble wrap from frame end to frame end.....start at one side of the frame and wrap until the other side of the frame is covered...use packaging tape to secure...

now place the soft top windows one by one including the plastic garbage bags in the middle of each of them(or bubble wrap)..in the middle of the soft top..secure with packaging twine....wrap the windows with two layers of bubble wrap...

now place the frame sections in the middle of the soft top on top of the windows...use the packaging twine to secure tightly...now again arap the entire soft top from frame top frame with bubble wrap remembering to secure with the clear plastic tape, use sparringly....the more tape you use the better ..

the wrap will hold and the top will be undamaged..now pull the large plastic bag over the entire sodt top including frame and tie off the ends..

now if you have a big card board fold it in half and place the wrapped top in the middle ...wrap the entire card board half with tape ..make sure the soft top cannot move ,,,,it is alot of work but it will get thier unmarked and in one piece...my buyer even commented on how good the top was packaged...hope this helps..sorry i did not have any pic's..
