The quote was 80km/h not mph which is 48 miles per hour.

You don't need to stop to switch to 4hi...only to 4lo.

around here a lot of the time the right lane is just wet and the passing lane has a couple inches of snow on it. Our road maintenance sucks. When this happens everyone gets panicked and starts going 50 or so in the right lane even though it's just wet. To pass them I'll bump it into 4 high. Having the front wheels pulling keeps the jeep going where I want it while I pass people.

Ya the OP said stopping to switch over...I don't think he knows you can switch to 4hi on the fly within reason.

One guy did say 80mph though, 48mph is normal, maybe even slow for around here! Maybe he meant 80 km/h?

As I recall, you're not supposed to shift to/from 4wd above 50mph. But once in you can go as fast as you want.

no misprint, I meant 80 MPH. Like I said before I shift in and out of 4 hi at interstate speeds all the time. Never had any issues. The manual makes it sound like you are going to loose control and die if you do it above 50.
