How many lights
I don't know your set up, but before you buy offroad lights I would highly recommend getting good headlights. Trucklites and JWs are awesome, Peterson is great too from what I have seen. But Trucklites can be bought for something like $400 from Northridge and that is an great deal. Regular : Heated Here is a pic of my front. Rigid E-series spot (10 degree spot) and 2 rigid dually D2 XL driving (40 degree flood). For a flood light it honestly isn't that big of a deal getting a high end brand, they all basically use the same LEDs and are virtually all the same. Higher end brands usually have better fit and finish, and from what I have seen are complete kits... but after they are set up I think you would be hard pressed to notice a difference in a flood light from a good quality knock off brand. But for a spot I would expect to see noticeable differences between companies like rigid and knockoff brands. reflectors, lens, etc all play a part in getting that light down that road and if you have knockoffs in a spot I think you would see significant variances, but it is also what you need for your situation. I was perfectly fine with floods only (dense woods in Washington) until I wheeled in the desert at night and realized I "needed" that spot to shoot down the road. I'm not a fan of pencil beams (5* spot) because I find their focus too narrow, but the 10* spots have a good spread and when complimented with a flood there is not much area unlit. I don't have a picture of them on at night, but I'll try to get one this weekend. I pointed my floods slightly outward to get more light on the sides and reduce the overlap hot spot in the center. This made a more uniform light brightness throughout the lighted area. A friend of mine got the ARB knockoffs from amazon and they are impressive. From amazon search for: Turbo 96W round LED, there are lots of options, but turbo is a good brand of knockoffs from what I have seen. Buhahaha, made me laugh. So true and well said. Why not use your street legal brights to flash them instead of your offroad only illegal to use on the streets lights? It is cool you like your lights, but please use them smartly and safely.
"Too many lights" is in the eye of the beholder. Some may say ugly, others will see the utility and advantage of brighter night driving on dark roads or terrain.
I have the lights for a reason and regularly use windshield spots and/or the hood bar.

I personally think If I add anymore lights its going to be too much. I'v had people tell me I need a 50" on the top to complete the Trifecta LED light-bars of Blindness. I'm just thinking "at what point is it just too much?"
Let me start by saying the jk headlights are the worst I've been behind. I could see better behind my sportbike. Ok now that's out of the way.
I added rigid duallys to fog location that made things nice still had to run headlights to see well. The real difference for me was when I added trucklites I didn't need to turn on my fogs to see well. They drowned out my KC apollo on the pillar that I switched those to rigid D2 hyperspot. So with those three LEDs I think I've got a versatile system that I don't need to turn on all three at the same time to see well in various situations.

How many night runs do you really do? I've done no more than what I can count on two hands in the past 5 years. I have JW fog and headlights with rigid D2 windshield mounts that slightly point off to the side...they're enough to illuminate 99% of what I want to see. Otherwise you can invest in the sun as the above guy did for the other 1%.
