How much to air down before hit the trail?
It seems that many experienced folks air down the tires before hit the 4wd trail. So, here's the question. How much do you guys air down before hit the trail? 10, 15, 20, 25 psi???
There was a similar question yesterday...................... https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modified-jk-tech-2/your-tire-experiences-under-low-pressure-15094/
I usually do about 18psi. my tires still look like they have air but flex nicely when needed. I only wish setting my deflators was easier. last time I connected them and walk away I came back and they where almost flat in the rear tires!
I know some people that go to between 8-12! while I am sure it's better something about rolling around on 4 blobs keeps me from doing that? I guess it's because a tire needs to look like a tire in my mind?

Depends a lot on the type of tires you are using. When I used BFG MT's around 12 PSI worked well on the rocks. When I used glass belted Super Swamper TSL SX's I could comfortably go to 4-6 PSI and still keep the tire on the rims. Starting with 18 PSI is a good place to begin. But, I think to get more tire bulge, you will be headed to a lower PSI
I run 18 in the rear and 20 in the front on road...of course I have 37" BFG's. I ran 12 in them when I was in Moab and they seemed to work pretty good. On trails that were pretty easy I ran 15 psi.
