Default How offroad capable is the Sahara?

Thanks for the help in advance. I have an opportunity to get a 2008 Sahara with 4,000 miles on it, for $19,000. My question is, I will only be doing light offroading, maybe once a month, so how capable is the sahara? This is also going to be my daily driver. Do you feel the price is a good one? The only added options are the tow group and the power group. Thanks!

as long as it is 4x4, it is capable enough.. especially if you are only doing light off-roading.

like it was said before as long as it is a 4x4...the vehicle is quite capable....I have wheeled with a stock sahara that kept up with a few of us rubicons all day long on some really challenging areas....The sahara sustained a bit of damage to side steps and wheels, high centered a few times, just struggled a bit more, but eventually made it. I was inpressed how well it did in stock form. If you only do "light off-roading" the sahara is perfect. Eventually that light offroading will turn into more moderate trails, and all you need then is a 2.5inch budget boost lift and 33's and you would be that much better off, and it won't affect your driveability really at all.

I say get it

There's not what I would call a WORLD of difference between any of the 4X4 models, including the Rubicon. Though the Rubicon does have the lockers and discos, the other 4X4 models are nearly as capable. They are all very formidable Jeeps.

It really depends on the condition, options , 2Dr or unlimited, and the local market . Check out some of the online price guides like Edmonds or Kelly Blue Book or NADA that should give you a good idea of the valuation .
I have a 2dR 2007 Sahara and have wheeled it pretty hard this summer. The only thing I would do to it before wheeling is to ditch the plastic side steps and get yourself some good rocker gaurds like TeraFlex or ***************. Have fun and good luck.
