Default How waterproof is it inside?

just wondering.. for those of you who've been caught in the rain with your tops off how waterproof is the interior? I'll be getting a sahara so are the Yes essentials seats actually waterproof? Or still a little absorbent? and what happens if you get rain all over your mygig? water can't be good for electronic kinda stuff.. has anyone had any serious problems with water damage or does the JK dry up just fine in most cases?

I just know I'm the lazy type and will leave the top down at home sometimes.. left my old pathfinder's sunroof open many times only to find it soaked inside after some overnight rain I slept through. Not fun

I've been caught topless in the rain a few times already...

The seats WILL absorb water - the fiber of the cloth is stain- and absorbent-resistent, but water can still make its way through the weave. The seats do a decent job of repelling water (much better than most vehicles' interiors, at least), but are by no means "waterproof." If you're looking to MAKE them waterproof, you can buy some neoprene seat covers.

As far as the electronics, it's a good idea NOT to get them wet. I've gotten the dashboard damp, without any problems, but I have seen a post or two from other forum members who've gotten their head unit wet and had some issues...

If you're lazy like me, and don't want to put the top up and down all the time, you may want to just buy a cab cover or throw a bikini top on, to shield the electronics from the elements.

DO NOT GET THE ELECTRONICS WET It has not happened to me but other members here have even had trouble to where the jeep would not start till it all dried out. On the flip side it all dried out and worked fine however it was a PIA. That said it is fairly water resistant and dries rapidly when it gets soaked (all but my dash as I keep a safari on both for rain and shade).

I have woke up in the morning to find two inches of water on the floor boards. I park on an incline so my dash stayed dry. It had the wet smell until the sun baked it now its all good.

Not highjacking but I removed the drain plugs last summer and not replaced them. Any thought?

Back off, hose it down in there and find out.

Not sure where mine are. Nah in reality mine are installed as the hard top is on. I take them out when the top comes off. In spring we get heavy rains here and if I need to go downtown in the city during high tide (or other places) I might have to ford water. I figure keeping them in will keep the interior dry however late spring and summer when it warms up and everything dries within hours or less I am not worried about it.

would it still be "the inside" if there are no doors and top on? would it become the exterior then?

Easy, it's not. No waterproofing whatsoever.

Does anybody know of some products that let you keep the top off all year round, out in the elements?.. you know, like water proof dashs/dash covers, water proof speakers, etc... I've been looking for these but haven't seen anything like this.

Get a piece of plastic, cut it the width of the interior dash, tape it up in the inside of the windshiled and let it hang down when not driving it, voila, waterproff dash.
