Hummers better than Sport JK's??
I bought this cool book at Barnes and Noble this week...
http://www.themotorbookstore.com/fobi.html
And I was having fun reading it until the section where they compare the various off roading vehicles. They scored a JK Rubicon 5 out of 5 for off-road performance - which is awesome, the Hummer H2 and H3 at 4, and the JK Sport at.... 3+ ???? What???!!! How can the Sport JK lose out to those bloated mall crawling machines? Has anyone seen a H2 or H3 actually offroading? (and if you have, how did they do?)

It's all about articulation. Here's an H1 demonstrating the problem with the lack of it:

And here's a Jeep JK showing why it's so much more stable for rock crawling:

I have seen an H2 off road, but it is quite rare. Not sure anyone really off-roads the H3s. But, let's be clear: There is more to off-roading than just being able to crawl across rocks. Before the advent of the four door Jeep, the Jeeps had not really set much of a reputation for overlanding/expedition travel. In those areas, comparing a two door Jeep to an H2 or H3, one might prefer the latter just because of space considerations. In my book, however, the four door Jeep changes that equation. I think the folks at Overland Journal magazine agree with me (based on recent articles they've had).

Here's another (shorter) video of a JK ...

And it looks like he did that with stock Rubi tires and wheels. No drama, just get the job done. I think a Sport/X with stock tires would be pretty challenged on that, but could not find a video in a quick search. But, disco and it would have the articulation--small tires would hurt, though.

Never seen a H2 or H3 wheeling? Time to branch out.
All three are capable with the right options and driver.
The H3 Alpha decked out would do better on the trails than a stripped down X on street tires...
