We just bought a 17 Willys 2 door. No claims in several years and we池e in our 30痴 and 40痴. Is $237 a month on the high side for what we picked up? We only pay about 400/mo for a 19 JLUS and 18 Alfa Romeo.
depends on coverage but for where I live, that is definitely high. I insure a 2018 jkur recon and a 2016 CRV touring and it is $783 every 6 months for full coverage and that includes $50 deductible on glass and $500 on everything else. We are older tho wife is 57 I am 61.
Of course, there are other factors in vehicle insurance rates--tickets, credit rating, coverages selected--but I only pay $67/month for my 2020 Gladiator. I'm 70, no financing, but still carry coverage for liability 100K/300K/100K, comprehensive w/$1000 deductible, collision w/$1000 deductible and car replacement assistance (extra coverage that would help pay for mods over $5,000 in value). Do not carry medical (I'm on Medicare with Tricare for Life), uninsured motorist (which in Oklahoma only pays for medical if I'm hit by an uninsured motorist--ditto the Medicare and TFL. It does not pay for property damage--collision does that), rental reimbursement (I also own a Wrangler) or towing and labor (they aren't going to reimburse me the couple grand it would cost to tow me out of the places I go). Wrangler and house coverage with same company gets me additional discounts. So does accident free and no tickets.
Review your coverages. Know what you have and why you need it and that it doesn't duplicate other coverages (and bear in mind that uninsured motorist is different in different states. In some it does pay property damage). Do your annual free check up on your credit report and fix any mistakes (note that if bad info affected your rate, you're entitled to a free one from the agency that the insurance company used). Compare rates with other companies. If you have a military connection, definitely check out USAA (military, prior military, parent prior military, etc. A lot of veterans are unaware that USAA opened up coverage to all honorably discharged veterans, so your dad who did his four year enlistment in the 70s may not be aware that he can get coverage--it is no longer limited to just officers).

61 year old, in Astoria, NY 15 minutes from midtown Manhattan. I point that out, because my zip code in the past was the highest paying group for insurance. We have access to most highways allowing the car thief an easy get -away, For a 2015 Wrangler JK I pay $ 112 monthly for full comprehensive insurance.
Our insurance went way up moving to FL from Ga! But even at that I have three vehicles all under full coverage for $216 a month (less than cable!). The deductible amounts also impact your rates,
Thank you for the tip. I have already used this information. I increased my deductible on my home by only $ 500 to $ 1500 and saved almost $ 300 a year. Nothing in my policy changed. I pay $ 720 a year for my homeowner's policy. Next is the car. I learned this trick and many others listening to NPR during my downtime at work waiting for dispatch. Thanks again and have a great July 4th !
