So i go to the grocery store around 2 in the afternoon. Spend about 30 min inside, come out to put the groceries in my jeep and the gas cap is off... I was like hmmm i havent gotten gas in a few days and im sure i would have noticed that before now. I put it back on, start it up and im BONE DRY!! Somebody siphoned all my damn gas out in broad daylight in the parking lot!! I cant blieve that! Ive never had anything like that happen before. I guess i can expect it again with gas getting so expensive?? :(

 

better get a locked cap... the people these days have no respect or value of other peoples stuff....good people are hard to come by these days that you are able to trust...

I live in a good neighborhood too. But i live by the beach and its tourist season... I was furious! I had just filled up yeterday. 50 bucks worth!! they must have filled up 15 gallons worth!! I cant believe they did it in broad day light in a high traffic parking lot and nobody asked what they were doing!

 

Too many people turn the other cheek now days and don't stand up for others because it's "not their problem."

 

When I placed my order and then had to play the waiting game, I was questioning whether or not I was being paranoid by getting the locking gas cap: I was thinking more along the lines of "sugar in the gas tank" than fuel theft, but your story by itself is enough to convince me that I made the right decision by getting the locking cap... sorry to hear about that - that's truly F'd up.

 

Does the store have video surveillance of their parking lot? You might see the person again someday...

 

You just made me realize that the cost of a locking gas cap is less than the cost of a full tank of gas with today's prices! A good investment.
