Default i hope i don't regret this...

... but i can;t wait anymore. it looks like i am pulling the trigger tomorrow on a black 2010 unlimited sport 6 speed with the s package and dual tops. $2500 off of msrp, and a more than fair value on my trade (05 subaru wrx wagon).

i want to wait for the pentastar, but i don;t want to wait over a year+ to get a decent deal on one. i really like the 2011 interior, but not enough to spend $3,xxx more for the same jeep with a better interior. i can live with the 2010.

a quick question about bolting on the factory molded plastic side steps from the sahara: do they really just bolt on the the sport? do i have to drill anything out, or are they really just 6 bolts and 12 nuts? hxxp://www.quadratec.com/Assets/Installation/75628.pdf
the instructions say 1-2 hours... is that a gross overestimation?

if it all works out tomorrow, i will post up some pics. if the pentastar gets released in the middle of the 2011 model year, i will be the one crying in my beer.

1) you will definitely NOT regret it
2) you can bolt those steps to the rig like bandit said no drilling

i loved my wrx for what it is, i can;t say anything bad about it. it is a great little wagon that has (pretty much) enough room for everything i need, a roof rack to put whatever on top, and it is pretty quick and fun. but, since seeing the 4 door unlimiteds when they came out, they have been the only other vehicle i have wanted to drive. i have to force myself not to drive too fast in the wrx and with a 6 month old, there is not a lot of room either for him or anyone riding shotgun. before my wrx, i had a liberty (big mistake) because i needed more room than what my tj offered. i had a cj7 before the tj. wranglers are the only car i never got sick of, so time to give 'em another shot.

the new 2011 wrx's are pretty sick, they have the sti wide body and 265 horsepower out of a turbo flat 4. but then again, at the end of the day, they are just souped up compact cars. time for me to slow down and once again enjoy the top down and doorless driving experience. turbos can't replicate that feeling.

I know that I will be slow, I just hope I will have enough power to get out my own way on the highway.

I will have the stock gearing, not the 3.73s. I won't be lifting or getting bigger tires for a few years, so I am not too worked about it now. I won't be beating on this till its pretty much paid for.

Don't know if the Penstar will ever happen in the JK let alone when... If you think you may regret it don't do it. Buyers remorse BEFORE you even buy is bad news. I ordered my JK with the mindset of "I can't wait for my rig to be here". I literally X'd off the days on a calendar till it landed at the dealer. I hope whatever you do that you are happy and it all works out for you. It WILL feel and be slower than your WRX... it's not turbo lag you will be feeling it will just be LAG! LOL

Go for it! I'm sure you'll get a fair trade again next year when you drive the pentastar v6.

Ask them if they will swap that WRX motor in to the JK I'm sure you know WRX's have an ungodly amount of aftermarket support. 400hp from the 4cyl would be awesome in the Jeep.

I like the Avalanche next to it too, I traded one in on the Jeep.

To the OP, it took me about 30-45 minutes to put on the side steps and I took my time and was careful. Also, they will fit in the back of the Jeep if you fold the seat down and put them in across the back.

I went from a tiny, nimble Integra to my Wrangler, which felt like a boat by comparison, but I loved it. It felt like I was driving some military vehicle on an urban safari. Then I got a 3'' lift and 33'' Duratrac tires and I can't help but smile every time I get behind the wheel.

Also, once you hop a curb to get out of gridlock traffic, you'll never want to go back to a normal car again.
