Default Ice Roads

After watching the Youtube video of the 20 car pile up in Colorado Springs and watching first hand several autos spin tires to fail moving up a modest incline in Pueblo, I want to know what tires can be used at the BFG 315 75 R15 size to maintain good control of my JKU on ice. I don't like the idea of someones F-250 sliding back down a hill into me as I sit near stationary and take the hit.

Only thing that will truly help on ice are studded tires. Only tires that you can get studded are either dedicated winter tires or the Goodyear Duratracs. Personally I would probably get a dedicated set of winter wheels with studded tires if I lived in an area prone to ice rather than dealing with the hassle of taking the studs out and putting them back in every year.

Any tire would be fine, just put chains on them and your set.

Ice is killer. There is really not much you can do but get studs or chains. They say siping ( not sure I spelled that right) helps, having extra horizontal cuts in the tire to open up and grip on the ice, but if it's a solid sheet of ice under the snow.... Love the fact that the wrangler just cruised on through.

Siping is about the only thing you can do and even then its prob only a very marginal difference. When your on a solid sheet of ice there isnt much you can do unless you want to stud your tires which I know is illegal in Michigan and I'm sure in other states too.
