Illegal to be covered in Mud?
I remember my classmate in high school got a ticket for having mud on his license plate are there any other areas your not allowed to have mud on? I was thinking the other one would be brake lights.
Most places you can't cover them at all, tint, mud, plastic, and now some states aren't even allowing the frames around them. License plate must be readable and lit up at night. At least that is the case in New Mexico.
When I came back from Moab to Canada the Canadian bordergaurd didn't like the red Moad dirt and clay all over my Jeep. He said he was going to save himself some work by not sending me back to Billings MT to wash it off. Not supposed to bring foreign soil into the country. What an asshole. It was in mid October about 22:00 and had been snowing through North Idaho and Montana. I was glad I didn't have to drive back.

Anyone who has served time in the military will confirm this.
To the OP. Just use some common sense, clear the appropriate portions of your Jeep and you won't have an issue with the law.

That pathogens across the border thing is silly anyhow. The wind blows dirt and other organic matter across the border constantly in much greater quantities than you could ever hold on the exterior of your Jeep, not to mention the pathogens that animals that roam freely across the border bring. Glad you didn't have to turn around.....would have been a complete waste of time and money and of no real benefit to the environment across the border.

It happens after going wheeling sometimes...
