Default I'm convinced...

... and so is the wifey.

Test drove an Unlimited Sahara today that the local Jeep dealer put a 4.5" RE lift on with 35" (315/70-17) Pro Comp Xtreme MT's along with a bunch of other MOPAR stuff.

I gotta say, I've seen about every pic posted on this forum since I joined and a whole bunch posted before and I thought the 35's looked about right and the 37's looked "a little big". After seeing the one today with 35's on it, I think that's an excellent place to start.

Check it out.

Here's the list of additions:

MOPAR (RE) 4.5" lift
Pro Comp 315/75-16 Xtreme M/T's
Pro Comp 8179 (I think) 17x9's
Locking fuel cap
Hella Windsheild mount offroad lights
Grab handles
MOPAR front/rear bumpers & tire carrier
Sill kit (?)
MOPAR tail light guard kit
MOPAR front skid plate
MOPAR side steps
MOPAR fuel door

Price for the lift, wheels, tires was $11,281.95 and the total after all mods was $16,253.78 ON TOP of the $29k+ that they wanted for the Jeep!

Needless to say, I won't be getting that one, but I really did like the 35's!

Sounds like a nice rig. The sill kit is the little plastic dohickeys that cover the painted door sills. They look like diamond plate.

Wow! For that price, you can get a Hummer and have a real offroad rig!

Seriously. How can you have $16k+ of mods and not have a Hemi in there somewhere? That's a ton of dough. I would even start with an X and build up, unless you like the pretty colors on the fenders and the silver on the bumpers.

Honestly, guys, I'm gonna call the salesman and ask him if those prices are right.

The difference between the $11k price and the $16k price is exactly the price of the other mods. I think there was a mistake in the calculation somewhere. Either way, it's WAY too much.

They show $150.90 for the fuel door and $147.13 for the locking gas cap! Those are ridiculous prices, right... that's not the normal prices for the MOPAR parts, right...

WOW!! Checking all those items on the Mopar site, I come up with about $2800 not counting the wheels and tires. At $300 per tire and $200 per wheel, add $2500 for 5 tires and wheels. That would bring the cost to $5300. Add another $500 for installation which is a bit high in my opinion but the cost is now $5800. That leaves about $11000 for the lift components and installation.
The price seems outragously high to me.

It is outrageously high. I called the salesman back just to confirm their asking price. He said he'd call me back, but never did.

As far as labor, the price sheet he gave me did list labor for the add'l mods (not the lift/tires) as ~$1200.
