PS you can put it into 4 hi moving up to 50MPH according to the guide. 4low is a whole different story.

the system is called "shift on the fly". u can put it in 4hi while driving up to 60mph. putting it in while stopped is more difficult than it is when rolling. no need to go in neutral either. just firmly pull it down with one solid motion all of the way. dont stop in the middle, etc.

edit: to use 4lo u need to be rolling between 3-5mph, put it in neutral, and go straight to 4lo with one solid motion. dont try it stopped, make sure u are rolling and it will work smoothly.

2012 Owners Manual:

Shifting Procedure:
2H to 4H or 4H to 2H
Shifting between 2H and 4H can be made with the
vehicle stopped or in motion. With the vehicle in motion,
the transfer case will engage/disengage faster if you
momentarily release the accelerator pedal after completing
the shift. Apply a constant force when shifting the
transfer case lever.

Have you had wet roads recently?

The linkage may be iced up.

Just a thought.

If it is difficult to shift into 4hi while stopped try rolling forward a little bit, then try shifting to 4hi while rolling.

This is what i do and i have an auto trans, I suggest while you are rolling with your foot off the gas push the lever to the right and you will feel the tension of the spring that keeps the lever leaning a bit left and pull back. It will feel like you have pull it past a small bump and you dash will display the 4hi. Good luck enjoy the 4x4 goodness

First welcome to Jeepin, and this forum...you are in good hands here for info.

Good advice here from Zombie Hunter.

I've driven many 4WD trucks in my time, and I have to admit that each time I pull my T-case into 4WD and out I'm amazed at how well it shifts....hot knife through butter as they say. (I cross my fingers too that that little .30cent bushing on the end of my linkage doesn't burst into a million little plastic pieces...another thread another story )

Don't forget to wave!
