Internet purchase?
I'm thinking about buying a new 2011 rubicon and I was wonder if anybody has purchased a JK over the internet? Is it better then going to a dealer and haggling with a salesman. My credit Union offers a service where they diliver it to your address so are they any negatives in doing it that way?

I preplanned mine over the internet but got to the dealership and it was sold the night before. They looked pretty dumb so they gave me an even better deal on the one I'm in now. Its just less pressure/sales games.
For what its worth I bought my house over the internet! I was in Germany and was going to be stationed here without much time before I had to leave for training (no time to dilly-dally with house hunting). Worked out great.

If it's new, you know what you want and are dealing with a reputable company then Internet vehicle sales are easy.
Years ago I got a truck over the Internet. I built exactly the options I wanted. As I added or removed options the price adjusted to the exact amount. The next day I got a phone call that the truck was on hold at a local dealer. I gave them a credit card number and they put a $500 hold on it. That keeps you from bailing on the Internet transaction then going to the dealer yourself. I made an appointment at the dealer for 1:00PM the next day. I and the "Internet Salesperson" went straight through the paperwork. I drove away in my new truck at 1:35PM.
Like stated before: No haggling. No add-ons. No BS. It was just a paperwork transaction.
My highest opinion of that particular dealership rests on that one salesperson. I can't say anything good about anyone or anything else there.

I bought my Jeep over the internet. Went all over to price different dealers. Went on the internet and saved $3000. I had to drive 100 miles to the participating dealer but the savings was worth it. I got everything I wanted in options and would recommend it to anyone.
I tried to purchase mine over the Internet with a half dozen or so Oklahoma dealers three years ago. Most were completely non-responsive. The best I could do was get a couple local ones to quote me MSRP (this is when Jeep sails were hot and the economy was still trucking along). I found going to a dealer and actually negotiating price and features (I was ordering mine) gave me the best results. Bottom line: Things may have improved after three years, but I think that experiences will vary widely based on location. Keep your options open.
Yeah I remember a site (I don't remember the name) that you could buy Jeeps from online at invoice and have them shipped to you. It was actually a dealership and had great reviews. They are gone now though, at least they don't sell online like they used to. There may be others.
Oh and I know I haven't posted here in awhile and still have yet to get a JK, ha.
Every time I was planning to, something came along that stole from my down payment and many other financial difficulties. A house being one of them and then a kid and then oh yeah unemployment... But work is better now... A bit more saving and maybe soon.
It's comical, I miss my Wrangler.
I may look to buy online too though.
