I just learned my Wrangler Unlimited is on a train to me!!! Now, I need to prepare for it.

I have read on jk-forum that one needs to:

• Replace the door hinge pins with stainless steel ones that won't rust and ruin the paint job
• Add a second "bumper" to the hood so that it won't contact the top of the windshield and get scratched when you open the hood all the way

Can anyone tell me where to buy these products, and if there is anything else that is a must-have item for a new Wrangler? Thanks!

 

I haven't heard about the hinge pins....thanks for mentioning it. Recommend going to the supporters sites first.

 

Yea, I'm new to the site also. I have an 08 sahara unlimited in JS. There are too many threads to read them all. Love ALL the suggestions. Haven't seen these yet.

 

Did a search and found the thread where some1 said that the hinge pins should be replaced, but no one commented on that or where to get them.

 

To my knowledge no one is yet making replacement hinge pins. However, you can replace the entire Hinge with a stainless blingy aluminum & stainless pinned ones if you wish. See here: Off Road Evolution hinges

The hood bumper thing can easily be avoided, by using the support & just not leaning it on the window. But i suppose the second bumper would work if you prefer to open it fully.

 

Well the main thing you need to do is make sure you have a really high limit on your credit cards and plenty of money in the bank!!!

 

Get a new CC as well, that way you can mod it extensively.
