Yes, it does. They won't tow you until you have at least 3 unpaid tickets (which can range from like $20 to $80, depending on where you parked). Then, of course, on top of paying for your old tickets, they also make you pay for the tow, so it gets a bit pricey.

No, this would have worked, but she clearly broke her "linkage!"
Wow, that was very corny, even for me.

That was a good story...I'd like to have seen her hit the fence.

For the money she paid they should have treated her with a modicum of respect and drove her to the site to pick up her vehicle. Being that she had to walk to get there, they should have arrived ahead of her. Yeah she blew it, but I still have to give her props and I hope she gave the security guys an ear full. Usually they are wannabe cops and most all of them want full control without using respect for others. I just hope she got a lawyer for this one.

My gosh, you would think that people would learn a little patience will go a lot farther and cheaper than a hot head. On the other hand, I hope her kids found a safe ride home from school.

again, I agree with you... the practices of our parking department suck. As for her walking, I'm not sure how she got over there, but based on the distance and terrain of our campus, I doubt she walked or they definitely would have arrived before her... probably got a ride or something. You'll appreciate the fact that she was damn near kicking and screaming when they arrested her.

While I also agree with your views on campus police, ours are actually an "accredited" law enforcement agency with guns and whatnot, and from what I understand they can pretty much do anything normal cops can, so long as you're breaking the law on or in close proximity to the University campus.

Sympathize with her if you will - and I'm no lawyer - but I don't think that the woman would really have a case as far as all this goes. She was at fault for the multiple parking violations that resulted in her JK being towed, she wasn't treated any differently than anyone else who has to get there car our of impound (and, though the way these things are handled here sucks, there's nothing really illegal about it, and having watched that Parking Wars show, I could probably be worse... no one has to wait 5 hours or drive half-way across Philidelphia in rush hour traffic here), she did trespass and she destroyed University property. Just my as far as that's concerned.

Oh yeah, and in addition to guns, our campus police have these:

I don't condone what she did, but I can see how she is upset. Not everyone is made of money, and the main reason behind parking enforcement in most places is simply to generate revenue for the governing body. The fees and fines are out of control, they often tow at teh drop of a hat, and they do shit like make you wait for ever to get your ride back with no concern over the fact that you might actually need your ride for soemthing important. As with these damned intersection and speeding cams, it's all about revenue and in essense is one more legalized and poorly justified tax.
