Jeep not starting - wtf is the problem
I have a 2008 Unlimited with about 41000 miles. It is a manual transmission which makes me think its not recognizing the clutch being pushed in. Over the past few weeks, what has happened is it stalls and then wont start for a few minutes. Thismorning was the longest though. It stalled in a parking lot as I was backing into a space and wouldnt start at all. I had to push it in the spot, and wait about an hour before it finally decided to start. Does anyone know wtf this could be?
Could be exactly what you said. I would try to get it down to Autozone or another parts store that can plug in a code reader and tell you if the computer is reporting any issues. Sorry I can't help more, hope you get it figured out soon!
Cheers!
Cheers!
Also, I just read something about if the alarm goes off. My kids did set the alarm off yesterday playing around in the Jeep and over the past few weeks, the alarm has chirped a few times when I unlock the doors with the key remote. Dont know if this really has something to do with it, but it seems people say something with the alarm f*s the Jeep as well.
Did you try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes and then reconnecting it? If it is a computer foul up that might fix it. If not then it could be a myriad of other things. Good luck. Hope you figure it out.
When the vehicle will not start, does it crank over? If not, do you hear any noise at all? Do you have a check/service engine light on in your instrument cluster while the vehicle is running? Have you made any recent electrical modifications? Any further information that you can provide in detail would help greatly.

I just replaced my starter at 37k. Mine would not start once in a while and it didn't happen very much and when it wouldn't work it would start just after a couple of mins of sitting. It started to happen more regularly finely and i was able to narrow it done to the starter. That might be the problem as well
So I brought the Heep in and they replaced the Wireless Control Module (and it only cost me $450.00
). At first, the dealer didnt even want to know about the service bulletin I found online but about an hour into him trying to figure it out, he came into the waiting area and asked me the bulletin number. Shortly after that he came to tell me that was the problem code coming up and they had the part so they could fix it that day. Being I have 41,000 miles, it wasnt covered under warranty so $450. fix.
Anyway, this was Friday. Yesterday (Saturday) around 8pm (first time I actually drove the Heep since the supposed fix), the Heep didnt start so after waiting like my POS was a 30 yr old Yugo, it finally started but idled extrememly fast. Now it stalls as well at traffic lights and wont start much more (3 times since last night). Anyone have any sollutions on what I should do with this thing? I dont really have unlimited funds to keep paying the stealership to try to diagnose something that shouldnt be happening in the first place.
On a side note: I love my Jeep because of what it is capable of doing, but I hate American made vehicles with passion!!!! I will never buy American again because the only trouble I have ever had with vehicles, were every single American vehicle I ever bought. My Honda, Mitsubishi, Audi and Yamaha motorcycle all were perfect from purchase until sold. My Chevy, Ford, Chrysler and now Jeep were in the shop and cost me more money to keep than to get rid of and replace with foreign cars.

BTW: A good rule of thumb is to never tell a mechanic you think you know what the problem is--just tell him the symptoms and answer his questions. You're paying them to troubleshoot and repair. It would have been better to let them throw their hands up as a display of their ineptitude and for you to leave without the alleged fix, headed for a more competent mechanic, then to be out the money without a real fix. Now you're either stuck with their incompetence, or you'll be paying someone somewhere else.
