Question Jeep Rubicon - What don't you like?

I'm going to look at a 2018 Rubicon Recon tomorrow. For those of you with a similar model I'm curious what you don't like about the vehicle? Anything that you felt had to be changed out right away after purchase?

The price would be one place to start. Eventually you'll be looking for alternatives to the sway bar disconnect feature as many experience issues down the road. The other piece that seems to be good enough in stock configuration is the locker but it doesn't seem to respond well to large tires. I've got a friend with a 2015 and after 37's he had nothing but issues with the lockers.

The Recon is a very nice trim package though and if I'm remembering right, it comes with a slightly heavier duty front d44, maybe rear as well.

I have had three rubicons including a 2018 recon and i have never had any issues with the electronic discos. My recon has been 100% trouble free. It does have the stronger j8 axle up front and 1/2” lift over standard rubicons but comes with the same shocks and other suspension parts just different coils. I know were there is a very nicely outfitted one for sale.

I agree with both above. As with many of these things, there isn't a perfect one-size-fits-all. Any Rubicon, the Recon included, can be perfect for someone who'd use matches the build, and a waste of money for someone that is going to end up modifying it pretty heavily. I'd say that for most people they are more than adequate. The sway bars are definitely something that craps out over time and can be more of a headache than just a normal swaybay you manually disconnect. The lockers are what they are. Fine in factory setup or likely even with 33s and 35s, but throw 37s on and get in to aggressive technical wheeling and they aren't adequate IMO. Or rather, they are until they stop working.

None of that really matters though. If you like the jeep, buy it. You'll end up loving whatever it is you buy, and you'll change or address whatever you want to suit your use.
