Default is this a "jeep thing"

hey guys, i got an 08 black sahara unlimited and pretty new to the jeep world. here is my question, is it normal for there to be so much rattling when driving? I know its a jeep, but it seems riduclous how much noise there is. i notice it especially when I am driving faster, over like 60 mph on the highway and i hit a some cracks or something and there is alot of noise! I brought my jeep in to get that TSB on the "clunking" noise but i still have rattles everywhere. is everyone else having this, or is it just me? thanks in advance guys!!

Mike

totally normal. the clunking might be the steering. or the doors. search for clunky steering and door latch adjustment. otherwise its all normal.

you will also learn to use those noises as a gauge if anything is wrong. I kept getting a funny side to side movement on the jeep and it didn't want to turn. I kept checking everything and it all "seemed" tight, come to find the trackbar was moving when I turned the steering wheel.

It's a jeep thing....Is this your first vehicle with solid front and or rear axles? That has alittle bit to do with it. It will ride a little rougher then a vehicle with IFS/IRS. Other then that check to make sure everything is tight that should be tight and everything is loose that should be loose.

Default Noisy Jeep

I also seem to get alot of noise from the roof...... They kind've make a crackling sound, but I'm figuring that's just a part of being in the Jeep world... Of course this is my first, so I don't know all the in's and out's yet....

No Its not "a Jeep thing"! A jeep thing isn't defined buy a clunk or creek. Its defined by freedom! Don't get me started again!
Mine is amazingly quiet inside. Tape your door stops with electrical tape to get rid of the door clunk.

Smile Noise ?

For ten years I drove a TJ and traded it in a year ago for JK "X" Unlimited hardtop. I spend a good deal of time off road which provides a lot of opportunities to develop squeaks and rattles. I must say that I have never experienced either squeaks or rattles in either vehicle. You might say that they were/are both tighter than a bull's ass in fly season. Of course, I spend several hours each month tightening every bolt I can see under the vehicle.
That being said, I do have several strange noises coming from the JK engine that I haven't diagnosed yet.
